How does an online classroom work?

An online classroom typically allows students and teachers to interact and participate in lessons in real-time over the internet. The platform typically includes video conferencing, screen sharing, interactive whiteboards, and sometimes other features such as file sharing, voice and text chat. During the class, the teacher can present materials, demonstrate concepts, and provide real-time feedback and support to students. Students can ask questions, participate in group activities, and receive and submit assignments all from their own devices. The overall experience aims to mimic a traditional in-person classroom but with the added convenience of remote participation.

MamaTutor is an online tutoring marketplace that connects students and parents with certified tutors for personalized, one-on-one learning experiences. What is the refund policy for group classes?

According to our policy, students will get a 50% refund in case of cancellation.

Can a teacher reschedule a lesson if he/she misses it?

Yes, a teacher can reschedule a lesson if it is missed. To reschedule a lesson:

  • Sign in to the account. Go to "Lessons".
  • The missed lesson will be listed under the "Lessons".
  • Click on the "Reschedule Lesson" icon of the missed lesson.
  • A pop-up box will open. Mention a comment for rescheduling the lesson for the student and click "Send".

How can students schedule a lesson?

Sign in to the account. Go to " Teachers" which will open a list of teachers registered on the portal. Select a teacher with whom you want to schedule a lesson and go to his/her profile. Students can now either book a free trial session or purchase a lesson. Booking a free trial will open the availability calendar of the teacher. Students can then select a date and time from the calendar and confirm the booking. To purchase a lesson, students are required to make the payment, and further schedule the lesson as per the availability of the teacher.

Is there any feature to record audio and video in the MamaTutor?

Yes, the MamaTutor platform has the capability to record audio and video during a lesson session.

How do I contact support?

Please note that response times for support inquiries may vary and may take up to 3 to 5 business days, based on the availability of resources.

How long will be the lesson?

The availability of time slots for booking with a tutor will vary depending on the individual tutor. Determining the number of time slots offered is at the tutor's discretion.

Typically three-time slots are offered for selection by the student: 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes. For group classes, the length of the class is generally set at 45 minutes.

How do I check my notifications?

Go to "Notifications" in your Dashboard to check your notifications.

How do I change my password?

To change your password or email, please navigate to your dashboard and select "Account Settings." From there, click on "Password/Email" and enter your current password. You will then be able to enter a new password or email. It is important to ensure that the changes are saved by clicking the "Save Changes" button.

What is the Flash Card and how can I use it for learning?

Flashcards are a useful tool for enhancing memory recall through repeated information retrieval exercises. They consist of small cards with a prompt on one side and its corresponding information on the other. Flashcards can be used to study a range of subjects, including names, vocabulary, concepts, or procedures.

What is Gift Card and how can we redeem it?

Buy Gift Card: Both tutors and students can buy a gift card from the website to share with their friends and acquaintances after specifying the following details:

  • Name
  • From
  • Message
  • Gift Card Price
  • Complete Payment

Once purchased, a gift card is sent to the buyer’s email ID from where they can further share it with their friends and acquaintances.

Redeem Gift Card

  • All the gift cards can be redeemed on the website while making payments for the lessons.
  • Once redeemed, gift cards cannot be redeemed again.

What will happen to my payments if I experience technical issues during the lesson?

According to MamaTutor's policy, if a student experiences any technical difficulties during a lesson, they are required to report the issue to the tutor within 24 hours of the completion of the lesson. The student must provide all relevant information pertaining to the issue when making the report to the tutor. The tutor will then make a final determination on whether to grant a full or partial refund for the lesson or if the full fee for the lesson will be charged to the student. Should the student feel that the matter has not been resolved to their satisfaction, they may escalate the issue to MamaTutor's Support Team for further review.

Please note that MamaTutor's decision on these matters is final and non-reversible. MamaTutor will not issue refunds for circumstances beyond their control, such as poor internet connectivity, incompatible devices, or prohibited browser access.

Why isn’t my audio/video working in the online classroom?

Make sure your webcam and microphone are turned on in your browser if your video/audio functionality isn't functioning.

Users of Chrome:

  1. In the URL bar of your browser's upper right corner, click the camera symbol.
  2. You can see if the browser has access to your camera and microphone by checking the camera icon. It will be set to "Allow" if it has access, and "Block" if it does not. (https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2693767?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid)

Users of Firefox:

  1. On the browser's URL bar's upper left side, click the I icon.
  2. You can see if the browser has access to your camera and microphone by checking here. The permissions will be set to "Allow" if it has access. (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-common-audio-and-video-issues)

Can the teachers and students check the scheduled lessons as per their time zones?

Affirmative, teachers and students can view scheduled lessons in accordance with their respective time zones, effectively alleviating the difficulties posed by differences in time zones. The time zone can be selected in the "Settings" section.

What if I face technical difficulties during my lesson?

We advise trying the following if you are having technical issues:

  1. The first piece of advice, reload the page.
  2. Clear your browser's cookies and cache, which is tip #2.
  3. Reopen the browser after closing it.
  4. Terminate the session and reschedule it.
  5. Restart your computer after closing it.
  6. Call us or send an email to support@mamatutor.com to get in touch with customer service.

If you are unsuccessful, you can end the lesson early by selecting one of the icons in the classroom's upper right corner. You may choose to end the lesson early due to "technical issues" and provide a brief explanation of what transpired. Please be aware that we cannot offer refunds for technical problems that are beyond our control, such as slow internet, out-of-date browsers, etc.

What is the cost of using MamaTutor?

Creating an account on MamaTutor is free for both students and parents. Tutors set their own hourly rates, which may start from Rs. 1000/-, but can vary based on factors such as the subjects they teach, the level of tuition they provide, their experience, and others. For each paid session, 20% of the fee will be charged as a commission to the tutors.

How can I add money to the wallet?

Adding funds to your MamaTutor wallet is simple and convenient, with a variety of payment options available. These include Visa and MasterCard, Union Pay Cards, mobile wallets such as Upaisa and Easypaisa, bank accounts, and more options that may be added in the future.

What is a group class?

MamaTutor provides an option for group learning, allowing teachers to conduct classes in a group setting on a variety of subjects, languages, and topics. Group classes can be held with small groups of 2-10 students or larger groups, as determined by the instructor. The tutor has the ability to set the maximum number of students upto 100, the entrance fee, start time, and class duration to ensure an optimal learning experience.

What is the fee for the group class?

The cost of group classes on MamaTutor is determined by the tutor and can start from as low as Rs. 500 per student per hour of instruction. The pricing for both individual and group classes is set by the teacher, offering flexible and customized options for students.

Can I reschedule the group class? (For both)

For Teachers:

Our marketplace allows tutors to reschedule or edit details of the group classes before the student has enrolled themselves. Tutors are unable to amend or reschedule lessons once student registration has begun.

For Students:

Students can not reschedule the group class.

How many seats are allowed in the group class?

MamaTutor allows teachers to create group classes with up to 100 seats.

Where do I find my account settings?

Go to your dashboard to access your account settings. Choose "Account Settings" to view your account settings, which include your personal information.

What hardware/software do I need in order to use the online classroom?

  • Modern Chrome browser, which is advised.
  • A current version of the Firefox (alternative) browser.
  • Webcam and a laptop or desktop PC.
  • Earbuds or headphones with microphones.
  • Decent broadband connectivity [Minimum 4 Mbps].
  • If possible, use a wired connection.
  • To check your internet speed right now, click here.
  • Public internet access is not advised, just like in coffee shops.

How can I make sure the audio and video in my session function properly?

In order to ensure seamless video connectivity, it is necessary to grant permission for the browser to access your microphone and camera. To do so, simply click "Allow" when prompted by the browser. Once you have granted permission, your image will be displayed on the screen. If the image is not visible, please try selecting a different video input source.

How can I make sure the audio in my session is functional?

To ensure proper functionality of the microphone and camera, please grant access when prompted by your browser. If you are unable to see yourself on the screen, consider trying a different video input source. To confirm proper audio input, the microphone symbol should flash green when you speak. Additionally, please verify your audio output by adjusting your computer's volume and testing with music.
